Built without the ranking game: our homeowner pitch
Why we are building a home-services directory and advice library for the South Shore, and how we decided not to publish another ranking list.

There are a lot of sites that rank roofers in your town. We are not going to be one of them.
We are building a local directory and advice library for homeowners across the South Shore of Boston and Plymouth County, from Hingham and Cohasset down through Plymouth and Wareham. That means licensed contractor listings, sorted alphabetically from public sources. That means advice on how to hire, what to ask, and what to watch for. And it means cost guides built from public data, not private quotes.
What this site is
If you are a homeowner in Hingham looking for a deck builder, or in Plymouth wondering whether your roofer’s license is current, this site should be useful to you within five seconds. Directory pages are flat, alphabetical lists of licensed contractors who serve the town. Review data comes from public sources like Google Business Profile and the Yelp public directory, with the date of capture clearly stated.
Advice guides cover the things homeowners actually want to know: how to verify a license, what a reasonable deposit looks like, what permit process to expect, how to read a quote. They do not name contractors as good or bad examples.
Cost guides cite public pricing ranges. They do not attribute pricing to specific businesses.
What this site is not
It is not a ranking. We do not publish ordered lists. We do not write editorial opinions saying one contractor is better than another. When we cite review data, we cite the numbers and the date.
It is not a lead-gen funnel disguised as content. We will eventually have Featured Partners, contractors who pay for a sponsored placement above the directory on certain pages. Every one of those placements will be clearly labeled. They will appear in a separate sponsored section, not mixed into the organic directory. That is stated in our disclosure.
It is not a replacement for doing your own verification. We link you to the Massachusetts eLicensing portal, the HIC registration database, and the town permit office. Use them.
Why the South Shore
The South Shore is a single geographic market. A general contractor based in Duxbury works in Hingham and Plymouth. A roofer in Marshfield covers the whole coast. Homeowners search across town lines because they have to: the contractor they need might not be two miles away.
A single site that covers the whole corridor is more useful than two sites that each cover half of it. It also reflects how Google thinks about local relevance, and how the trades actually operate.
What comes next
New writing goes up daily. Directory data is being verified and added. The advice and cost library is being built out in parallel.
If you are a contractor who thinks we have your information wrong, check our corrections policy. If you are a homeowner with a topic you would like us to cover, let us know. Practical requests make better advice than anything we invent.
Welcome.
